Study Abroad
Yonsei's exchange student program sends nearly 1,600 students abroad every year and receives more than 1,100 international exchange students. Yonsei has exchange agreements more than 700 universities in 70 countries around the world, making it the largest program of its kind in Korea. Yonsei is continuously looking for opportunities to expand its exchange program. UIC students can also take advantage of various study abroad programs prepared by the Yonsei-Wide Office of International Affairs or by UIC.

Exchange
Exchange students are those who have applied and been nominated by Yonsei University under a bilateral exchange agreement.
Exchange student candidates can apply through the Office of International Affairs (OIA).
- UIC students who have completed their third to fifth semester are qualified to apply.
- A students applying for an exchange program must be in excellent academic standing (i.e GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.3 scale), and have a TOEFL iBT 80(IELTS 6.5) or above.
- Submit online application through the Yonsei Portal System during the application period. For application dates and list of documents to submit, please refer to the OIA webiste (http://oia.yonsei.ac.kr).
- The applicant should apply for an interview during the designated period.
- Students will be given priority in selecting the institution of study abroad according to the points they earn (GPA and interview results combined).
- Consent of the OIA on an application does not guarantee admission to the visiting institution.
- A student who cancels after the admission has been confirmed cannot re-apply nor for any exchange programs thereafter.
- Should pay the tuition to their home institution (Yonsei).
- Scholarship to OIA's U-wide Exchange Program participants: 1/3 of tuition reduction.
- Scholarship to UIC-Exclusive Exchange Program participants: 1/2 of tuition reduction.

* Exceptions for the Exchange Program Scholarship: In the case of one or more of the following
(1) less than 12 credits completed in the semester immediately before dispatch
(2) less than 2.5 GPA in the semester immediately preceding dispatch
(3) full tuition beneficiaries from other sources
- The period spent at a visiting institution will count towards their residence period.
- Students cannot apply for graduation or a leave of absence while they are on exchange program.
- Students should be enrolled at Yonsei University in their last semester for graduation.
- A students applying for an exchange program must be in excellent academic standing (i.e GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.3 scale), and have a TOEFL iBT 80(IELTS 6.5) or above.
- Submit the following to the Study Abroad Center at the OIA:(1) a copy of the online application from (2)other documents(recommendation letter and TOEFL results).
- The applicant should apply for an interview during the designated period.
- Students with higher score (combination of GPA, interview etc.) will be given priority in selecting the visiting institution.
- Should pay the tuition to BOTH Yonsei University and to the visiting institutions.
- The period spent at a visiting institution will NOT count towards their residence period.
- Students should take a leave of absence for their visit.
- A students applying for an exchange program must be in excellent academic standing (i.e GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.3 scale), and have a TOEFL iBT 80(IELTS 6.5) or above.
- Not required for short term SAP programs (summer/winter sessions) or non-degree courses.
- Application materials differ according to the visiting institution. CHECK (http://yonsei.ac.kr/contents/sinchon/sapnotice.html).
- The dean of academics will verify and approve if the program is suitable for credit transfers.
- Should pay their tuition to the visiting institution.
- The period spent at a visiting institution will NOT count towards their residence period.
- Students should take a leave of absence for their visit.
UIC Exclusive
UIC students may be dispatched as exchange students to the following exclusive exchange partner institutions.
* Selection Period: Selection of exchange students to Amherst College occurs before the International Office selection schedule. Please refer to the News and Events > Student Affairs (https://uic.yonsei.ac.kr/main/news.asp?mid=m06_01_03). (2) For the dispatch to other exclusive institutions or University-wide exchange institutions, please apply according to the schedule posted at the OIA website(https://oia.yonsei.ac.kr/partner/notice.asp).
